Last year’s review can be found here: ALDI 6 All Butter Almond Tarts
According to the website, these have been on sale since 2 November, along with the Sloe Gin Mince tarts. Both retail at £2.49 which is towards the top price i’m willing to pay. Unless of course, they are delicious and then the fee will be worth it!
Last year I really enjoyed sampling these tarts, enjoying not only the wonderful tasty product, but the ingenious design which removes the need for a tray.
This year, the packaging is quite a bit different, but have the tarts remained the same?
The packaging looks a lot more festive this year. Where the last two years of packaging saw a smart, subtle look, this year has seen a more artistic approach. The tarts are sitting on what looks like a flat board that has leaves and star shapes, with icing sugar liberally sprinkled over.
There is a small window showing you what you’re buying and the product looks just as good as the pictures above it.
I took a good sized bite and it wasn’t quite as delicious as I had found it the year before.
The tart is handsome, the pastry was tasty and I did enjoy the overall bite, however I would have preferred a bit more mincemeat this time around. The almonds weren’t particularly prevalent, so if almonds are something that might have put you off buying them, it shouldn’t. The almonds on the top can easily be removed, or just eaten as they offer a bit more crunch.
I was a bit disappointed with the overall taste.
Taste (1 – 10) – 7/10 – A good looking tart, no tray needed.
Value for money (1 – 5) – 3/5
