As soon as I saw these, They went straight in my basket! For looks alone, they are extremely attractive. That beautiful swirl of buttercream, the tart that looks like a treacle tart. wowzers.
I’ll review these in sections:
Iced topped Mince Pie – The crimp around the edge is strong, and the icing top combined with a gold icing star is a simple touch. The icing is quite thick, thicker than I had expected and makes the pie quite a bit too sweet. Not a fan, but there are two other pies to choose from.
Brandy Buttercream Festive Mince Tarts – soft, smooth buttercream which is light and delicate, not heavy and sickly as you might think. The wetter mincemeat works very well with the buttercream. Delicious.
Maple and Pecan Festive Tarts – This pie has a good look to it, with chopped nuts and large granules of golden sugar. The flavour is quite rich, not too sweet and almost a malty taste. This is the least sweet of the three pies, but might appeal to those who have a little too much turkey and need a lighter, less sweet taste.
Taste (1 – 10) – 7/10 – An interesting combination of tarts, something for everyone and they look great
Value for money (1 – 5) – 2/5
Total – 9/15
