I’ve got an admission to make. I have already had a festive Sandwich, from Tesco. I forgot to jot down all the details, but i’m sure i’ll be over there soon and will do a proper review.
Here we have, what i’d call a staple festive sandwich. To me, it belongs alongside the Turkey and cranberry sandwiches which i enjoy every year.
The title is one that makes me smile. I know the ingredients that make up pigs in blankets; bacon and sausage. I’ve accepted it. Imagine my surprise when I find sandwiches that are “Pigs under blankets”. Who threw that idea out there and it stuck?
Sure, a pig in a blanket is where the bacon is wrapped around the sausage, but I opened a previous “Pigs under blankets” sandwich and the sausages were on top of the bacon. Did this make a Pigs over Blankets sandwich? I’m not sure.
I like the geometric snowflake shapes and rich red colouring of the packet. I also like that 5% of the cost of my £4.50 sandwich goes to Shelter .
The sandwich itself is packed with lots of meaty goodness, sweet onion chutney and is served on malted brown bed.
A lovely sandwich.
