Every Year I look for mince pies, and every year Mr Kipling has their Deep Filled pies out.
They’re a reliable staple, like the fact you’ll receive socks on the special day or your mum always has ham in the fridge to snack on when you go and visit (okay, that might just be me).
Peering into the visual opening, nothing looks out of place. Each looks neat and tidy. The snowflake is uniform, each the same as the next. Fair play Mr K. I’m Exceedingly impressed.
Good Housekeeping Institute also seem to be impressed, so much so that they’ve stamped their mark on it .. Taste Approved 2024.
I’m not sure what that means, and I won’t Google it. But it seems to lend some positive vibes to the pies and i’m happy with that. The box is full of rich reds and a festive scene with golden accents.
taking the pies out, the edges do ruin the perfect illusion a tad, they are a bit darker around the edge as if they’ve caught a bit.
The pie contains wetter, sweeter mincemeat than I’ve had so far. it’s not bad at all, but i eat my pies cold without additions and i feel like this would benefit from something like custard, and perhaps heating it up would bring out more flavours than just.. sweet.
It’s a nice pie, but i’ve tasted better. £1.50 (reduced from £2.50 when you use your clubcard) in this day and age is a good price too.
