Phil Reviews Mince Pies

Iceland’s flagship pies.

Hi, this is Mrs Phil Reviews Mince Pies having an attempt. I don’t have the same way with words as my husband, but I will give it my best shot.

The box is nicely presented albeit quite simplistic.

The mince pies are displayed on some slate. The mince pies look quite nice with pastry snowflakes over the mincemeat and then with a sprinkle of icing sugar. One of them has been partially eaten.

Apparently this is a new improved recipe, so I’ll see what I think as I’m sure I had these last year also. The name of the mince pies is in a black and red box displayed over the mince pies on the front of the box. Not much else to say on the appearance really.

The box is easy to open (even with no nails) and on opening it, the mince pies appear to match the picture on the box.

For me the pastry is quite thick which I’m not keen on. (I prefer rough puff). The mince meat is quite strong in taste, I can taste the alcohol. It’s nice to actually taste the mince meat where as some pies can be quite bland!

Overall a fairly good pie for flavour and easy to eat but I would prefer rough puff pastry.
