Iceland Crumble (Mince) Pie off!

We’re going head to head between 4 Caramel Crumble and 4 Chocolate Caramel Crumble mince pies*

Chocolate Caramel (L), Caramel Crumble (R). * they’re not mince pies!

Let’s start with the price, £3 for some wide pies. They’re the widest I’ve seen yet, but they’re also quite shallow.

Now, for the packaging..

(No) prizes for guessing the products they have modelled the packaging on.

Twix and Mars yeah? Yeah.

I was interested to see the asterix on the front, right after the words “Mince Pies”. Why was this here, I wondered?

It’s here because they’re in “The Style of a Mince Pie”. They don’t actually contain mincemeat! So why not call them pies instead of mince pies?!

It doesn’t make sense to me!

But I need to try them, so I shall. Caramel Crumble first.

The pastry and Crumble top is quite hard; flavourful like a shortbread biscuit but quite tough. The caramel filling in the centre is firm and pretty wonderful to eat. It’s really quite Twix-like.

They’ve done really well with the taste of these. They’re decadent and could definitely be sold all year round!

Chocolate Caramel Crumble next.

The same thick structure awaits you, but the addition of cocoa gives a much deeper flavour.

The filling is probably the same as the previous one in terms of caramel but the chocolate elements do elevate this in terms of differentiation.

Another solid 4/5 though! Really quite good, and rich.
