Two way Whisky pie try.

We’ve got A 4 Pack of Mince Pies from Asda Exceptional range containing Whisky & A 4 pack of Mince pie from Aldi Specially Selected, containing the same alcohol.

Both pies contain Whisky, and both look enticing. The similarities might end there, but I’ve gone with it.

Both are four packs, so there’s more comparisons that can be drawn. And the price? Well, ASDA Sets you back £2.50, whereas ALDI are close at £2.25 and at the time of writing this, the website was showing them as £2.09.

I’m really looking forward to trying these.

ASDA first.

You can smell whisky when you open the plastic packaging. There’s a mixture of textures to great you, and it can be a challenge to work out which piece you’re eating. It’s interesting though.

This pie is not all about mincemeat, that serves as an accompaniment to the nut topping, plus i’m getting a small hint of spiced honey as well.

Now ALDI.

There’s no Whisky smell, but the pie looks glamorous with golden flecks of sugar intermingled on the top.

The mouth feel is rather pleasant, and your mouth is filled with golden caramel notes. The texture is smoother than the Asda pie, which I think i’m grateful for. I’d pick this over the ASDA pie each time.
