6 Caramelised Apple Crumble Mince Tarts

By ALDI.

My Thanks goes to Josh who took me to see what ALDI had to offer this year.

There was a lot! And I took a few photos of some products I might come back and get at a later date.

Everytime I think Lidl has a great offering, I head to ALDI and see how it’s done properly. They always seem to be a few paces ahead in terms of the items available and I love to see what’s coming next.

One year, many years ago, ALDI brought out chocolate orange mince pies as well as Salted Caramel. they were both wonderful, and not sweet as they sound.

Today, the offering for you is their Caramelised Apple Crumble mince tarts. What’s the difference between a pie and a tart? I believe two letters and perhaps something to do with the lid? I’ll need to confirm, however.

The box is deep blue, a clear evening sky, awash with stars. There’s a picture of the pies, plated and one has been lightly forked.

The box also indicates we’re going to have a ‘spiced cinnamon’ crumb.

The small tarts came out of the box with ease; the cardboard giving me no issue whatsoever.

The dark coloured pastry looks pleasant and there is a correct amount of icing sugar. A waft of festive spice greets me as I open the plastic packaging.

Now for a bite.

The pastry is nicely spiced, and the tart isn’t too mincemeat heavy, if you’re not a massive fan of it. I think i prefer a slightly more moist, or obvious mincemeat in my pies/tarts. The base is nice and firm, so it won’t crumble to pieces on you. I can’t taste much of the caramelised apple, unfortunately. Had it been just caramelised apple in a tart, these might have scored higher.

    1. They were really nice, just couldn’t quite get the apple flavour in mine.
